This contemporary private house designed by Altius Architecture showcases the beauty, versatility and accessibility of wood architecture. Despite substantial design and engineering fees, considerable transportation and logistical costs and no economy of scale, this project was completed for less that $200/sq.ft. This respectable cost was made possible by the extensive use of wood and local trades. This allowed the main pavilion to essentially become a glass box. The open concept living, cooking and dining pavilion connects to two levels of sleeping quarters. This house using natural dayligting and natural ventilation and passive cooling. – Altius Architecture
