The Mint Hotel Amsterdam is one of the largest hotels in the Netherlands. The Hotel is about 30,000 m2 with 553 rooms, situated next to the Central Station at the Oosterdokseiland.
M+R’s concept for the interior is based on high quality and a businesslike atmosphere. The style is timeless modern and comfortable. The challenge was to create an intimate environment despite a high hotel occupancy, where people can feel relaxed and at home.
For the design M+R was inspired by the hotel chain’s Scottish roots. The ambience of stacked wooden whisky barrels, recurs in round shapes and special cladding on the bars. The same wooden finish has been added to the floors and interior elements, creating a spacious effect. The wall covering and upholstery were chosen in the same style.
The Lobby Bar is an ideal destination to enjoy cocktails, beers and wines as well as light lunches and sharing platters with friends or colleagues. The Lobby Bar, with its comfortable low level seating, is also an ideal space to enjoy a coffee whilst reading the daily news or catching up with the day’s correspondence.
The lobby’s outdoor terrace – ideal for the summer months – is positioned to offer stunning views of the waterfront and historic old town and destined to be a popular attraction with both guests of the hotel and visitors to the city. City Café is Mint Hotel’s destination restaurant, popular for both lunch and dinner and business breakfasts. Eastdock Lounge is situated on the ground floor and enjoys a beautiful waterfront-facing outside terrace. Designed with ambient lighting and a comfortable mix of low and high-level seating for small meetings, light meals and relaxing drinks, Eastdock Lounge is coined as the new ‘living room of Amsterdam’.
