This house situated in new housing estate on the island of Sentosa adjacent to Singapore. The plots are not large and neighbouring buildings are built close to the sides of each house.

Modern Home Design in Atlantic Beach NY by Belmont Freeman Architects

The Kowalewski Residence was created as primary residence for a family with two small children situated in Atlantic Beach, beach community on Long Island New York. This house building is an attempt to insert a distinctly modern house into the village context in a manner that is respectful of the scale and architectural traditions of the community.

The house does not maximize either the bulk or lot coverage allowed by zoning. It is oriented with the narrow face – only slightly wider than the former house on the lot …

Simple Villa 3S by LOVE Architecture

The Villa 3S situated on the fringe of Graz Geidorf Austria, designed by LOVE Architecture. The design blurred the boundaries between house and garden creating fluid transitions and an extended exterior living space. The building is a massive brick construction with concrete walls and a reinforced concrete roof. This roof also serves as a thermal storage mass to provide a pleasant indoor climate and is covered with wood outside. This shades the planking and visually blends the terrace and roof into a unified whole.

The relatively strict land-use plan, which stipulated …

Open Space BR House by Marcio Kogan

A simple summer retreat in Brazil Jungle, presented by Brazilian architects Marcio Kogan. This house steel skeleton already stood on a long, narrow strip of cleared and graded land, with a heavy steel entrance bridge leading over the creek that cuts through two edges of the secluded, 1.5-acre property. Kogan had no choice but to incorporate these elements. Its steel pillars, raising the house above the jungle floor, lacked perfect symmetry in plan—a condition unsettling to his orderly instincts. But although constraints imposed by the existing structure dictated its overall …

Minimalist BR House by Marcio Kogan

Brazilian architects Marcio Kogan presents  BR House, a minimalist summer retreat located in Brazil Jungle. The landscape—rife with ferns and high, thin trunks—resembles Rio’s site when it was still wild and undeveloped. Given the lushness and the privacy it affords, it’s best to let jungle be jungle: Build a terrarium in reverse—a viewing platform raised on stilts and nestled into the tree canopy’s green shadows. This house steel skeleton already stood on a long, narrow strip of cleared and graded land, with a heavy steel entrance bridge leading over the …

This 4,200-square-foot East Windsor Residence situated near downtown Austin Texas, designed by Alterstudio. Entering the house you face a stair with large ebonized oak treads hanging in a vertical space that connects all three stories. Rough shards of granite pass through the glass from outside to an interior …

Shawanaga Bay Cottage Design by Altius Architecture

This contemporary private house designed by Altius Architecture showcases the beauty, versatility and accessibility of wood architecture. Despite substantial design and engineering fees, considerable transportation and logistical costs and no economy of scale, this project was completed for less that $200/sq.ft. This respectable cost was made possible by the extensive use of wood and local trades. This allowed the main pavilion to essentially become a glass box. The open concept living, cooking and dining pavilion connects to two levels of sleeping quarters. This house using natural dayligting and natural ventilation …

Country House in Gral Rodriguez by Estudio Ramos

This House originally developed by Estudio Ramos with a single story floor plan, with long galleries and a tower or belvedere, used to watch from a distance the presence of native Indians. Another feature is the heavy mass of masonry walls and volumes. The exterior, of great austerity, is finished with a rustic colored plaster. The language used is contemporary and pure. With strong emphasis on horizontal lines, it references the Plains of the Pampa’s. The floor paving of the external access is recycled ancient cobblestones. Modern, sophisticated and young …
